Jennifer Lowe–Anker suffered a tragic loss when her husband, climbing legend Alex Lowe, was killed in an avalanche on Tibet’s Shishapangma in 1999. It was a loss she shared with Alex’s climbing partner, Conrad Anker, who survived the avalanche, and one that would ultimately bring them together. Lowe-Anker’s new book, Forget Me Not, A Memoir, offers a portrait of Alex Lowe through letters and expedition notes, and explores her loss, her recovery, and the redemptive power of love. Lowe-Anker wrote part of this book while participating in the Banff Mountain Writing program.
