Our volunteers are vital to the success of Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre. During the one-week period of the Banff Mountain Festivals, our volunteers donate more than 2500 hours of their time. Volunteers also assist us prior to the festival by screening over 100 book entries and 300 films. As each book is read by at least three volunteers, that means over 300 books are read each year! At least four volunteers screened each of our 300 films that have an average total running time of 205 hours. In an average year, that’s the equivalent of one person viewing more than 1200 films 24 hours per day for 35 days! So, you can imagine why we could use a hand every now and then!
