Free Avalanche Awareness Nights
Check out the Latest Info from the Experts

Local skiers, boarders, and ice-climbers - take note! January 16 is Avalanche Awareness Day nation-wide. The Lake Louise Ski Patrol and the Banff Centre for Mountain Culture are once again presenting a free, exciting evening of films and speakers to remind all locals of the importance of avalanche safety. And this year – for the first time - the same program will be available at the Chateau Lake Louise on January 18.

Besides high-adrenaline films from the Banff Mountain Film Festival, the evening will include presentations by a mountain guide, a public safety specialist from the Banff National Park Warden Service, and avalanche forecasters from the three local ski areas. There will be a trade show in the lobby with all the latest info and equipment.

Avalanche Awareness Night in Banff takes place at the Banff Centre, Max Bell Auditorium, Sunday, January 16, from 7:30 - 10 pm. In Lake Louise, it’s at the Chateau, in the Tom Wilson Dining Room, Tuesday, January 18, from 7:30 – 10 pm. Last year’s show was packed, so be there early to get a seat!
