Dave McVetty
Dave McVetty is the Manager of the Social Science Unit for Parks Canada’s
Western & Northern Canada Service Centre, based in Winnipeg. He directs human
use and demand management research projects for the National Parks and National
Historic Sites across the west and the north and helps managers to integrate
that research with informed decision-making.
He grew up in Niagara Falls, where he developed his interest in tourism research
and has worked with Parks Canada since 1985. His did his undergraduate studies
at the University of Waterloo (Recreation and Business), and postgraduate
studies at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand (Tourism Planning,
Geography).
Dave and his wife Karen share their lives with two lovely daughters. He sits on
the Boards of Directors for the Professional Marketing Research Society, on
Parks Canada’s Natural Resources Council, and sometimes moonlights as a
Sessional Instructor at the University of Manitoba (in the Recreation Degree
programme).
